Lauren offers personalized music lessons for a range of instruments and skill levels. Whether your child is a complete beginner or an advancing musician, Lauren’s lesson programs in the Merrimack Valley provide the individual attention and expert guidance they need. Below is an overview of the lessons available. Lessons available for the follow instruments:
Clarinet | Saxophone | Piano | Guitar
Clarinet was Lauren’s first instrument and is one of her specialties. She teaches students how to assemble the clarinet, form a good embouchure (mouth position), read music, and play with a clear, beautiful tone. Beginner clarinetists start with simple melodies and basic notes, while intermediate players expand range and tackle school band music. Advanced clarinet students can work on challenging repertoire, audition prep (Districts, All-State), and refining their technique. Lessons available in-person at Lauren’s Methuen studio or online.
Lauren teaches alto and tenor saxophone for young musicians interested in jazz band, concert band, or just the sax’s rich sound. Beginners learn the fundamentals of sound production and fingerings. At intermediate and advanced levels, students explore scales, improvisation basics, and solo pieces. Lauren’s background in woodwinds ensures sax students get strong technique and a dose of jazz styling if desired. Offered in-person or via Zoom.
Piano is a fantastic foundational instrument. Lauren welcomes older children and teens who are new to piano, as well as those continuing from prior lessons. Beginner pianists learn proper hand position, reading both treble and bass clefs, and fun songs they recognize. Intermediate students progress to hands-together pieces, scales, and chords, possibly preparing for school chorus accompaniment or personal enjoyment. Intermediate piano lessons (if needed) can include classical repertoire, intermediate technique (arpeggios, octaves), or even pop/jazz arrangements. In-person lessons use Lauren’s weighted digital piano; online students can use their keyboard or piano at home.
Lauren offers acoustic guitar lessons focusing on chords, strumming patterns, and music fundamentals. Beginner guitarists start with tuning the guitar, basic open chords (think C, G, D), and simple songs to build finger strength. As they advance, they learn intermediate skills like barre chords, scales for melody playing, and perhaps an introduction to reading tablature or notes. By intermediate levels, students can work on more complex songs, techniques, and even songwriting. Lauren’s guitar teaching is great for teens who want to sing along to songs or anyone looking to jam. Lessons available in-person or online.
