Lauren Mosher is a dedicated music educator based in Methuen, MA. As a Massachusetts certified public school music teacher with over a decade of experience, Lauren has taught elementary and middle school band and general music, as well as hundreds of private lesson students. Her credentials include a B.M. in Music Education and a Master’s in Music Education. But most importantly, Lauren has a passion for helping young people grow through music.
Lauren began playing clarinet and saxophone in 6th grade band – an experience that sparked a lifelong love of music. She later added, piano, and guitar to her repertoire, giving her a broad musical background. Lauren has performed with community orchestras and jazz ensembles, but she finds her true calling in teaching. For the past 20 years, she has been a general music teacher at a local public school, directing youth ensembles and preparing students for concerts and festivals. Through this work, she’s become deeply familiar with the school music curriculum and the needs of young musicians. Her students have earned honors like All-State band seats and superior festival ratings, a testament to her effective teaching methods.
Lauren believes music should be both educational and enjoyable. Her philosophy, “learn the fundamentals, but let the student’s interests lead,” means she balances core skills (like reading music and technique) with fun, student-chosen material. In private lessons, Lauren adapts to each student’s learning style – shy kids, energetic pre-teens, and focused high-schoolers all receive personalized guidance. She uses positive reinforcement and achievable goals to build confidence. Patience and encouragement are at the heart of her approach. As a mom herself, Lauren understands parents’ concerns and strives to create a safe, nurturing environment where kids thrive.
Parents can trust that their child is in good hands. Lauren has undergone thorough background checks as a public school employee. Lessons take place in a dedicated music studio space in her home, which is a clean, welcoming environment. (For added convenience or caution, online lessons are always an option.) Communication is a priority: Lauren provides progress updates and is always happy to discuss your child’s development. She wants parents to feel like partners in the learning process. Many families have worked with Lauren for years, thanks to the strong rapport and results she delivers.
Lauren’s influence often extends beyond weekly lessons. She helps students prepare for school band auditions, recommends appropriate instruments or books, so students can be satisfied their progress. Her goal is to inspire a lifelong love of music – whether a student goes on to join the high school jazz band, play in college, or simply enjoys music as a hobby, Lauren is proud to lay the groundwork. When not teaching, Lauren can be found attending local concerts, playing her instruments for fun, or exploring new songs to share with her students.
Feel free to reach out to Lauren. She’s happy to talk about your child’s interests and how she can help them flourish through music!
